In the 2009-2012 Social Media survey report published by RSW/AgencySearch, marketing agencies state that “legal concerns” and “concerns about control” continue to dominate the reasons why they can’t sell more social media to their marketing clients.

While “time to maintain” still rests on top of the list as the #1 reason why clients aren’t buying into social media, the fact that legal and control issues still exist is concerning in and of itself.

There are plenty of mechanisms that can be put in place to monitor and manage social media activity for a client that should be part of what agencies bring to the table.

If your marketing agency isn’t able to provide you with a solid sense of confidence relative to their ability to manage these elements, then you need to consider alternatives to help you deliver effectively in this space.

Time is always going to be a challenge, but control and legal do not.
